The Problem of Ideas

The universe gives the appearance of uniformity, and is in some sense, but quite disorderly in yet another.

Intro

The purpose and meaning of life is to create information, to fight entropy, to reorganize and relocate things from where they are to where they ought to be, or at least where we think they ought to be.

The universe gives the appearance of uniformity, and is in some sense, but quite disorderly in yet another.

A good analogy might be, a tabletop that looks or feel smooth to the touch but becomes extremely rough and uneven upon much closer inspection.

As with Humans

As humans go, we possess it seems, a sense of purpose which consists of a desire to bring about universal order and uniformity to things that affect our reality, things abstract and concrete and anything in-between.

Elements of this include birthing offsprings, machines, laws and institutions, religion and faith, even physical structures to a given objective.

And so every human is a function of theirs or another’s idea, an idea whose object is to rid our experience of unpredictability and uncertainty.

We seem to love and cling to our own interpretations of order, as individuals and as a collective, gladly, for the most part, most people tend to agree on the nature of this.

To that degree we conform to others or desire others conform to our world view; in many ways like this would fix all of what’s wrong with the world.

The category above is especially one for sane people, the insane (conscious and unconscious) are in a category of their own, they have no structured world view that is kind and constructive even if controversial.

With Religion

I do not believe in a world where everyone becomes just one of either Christian, Buddhist, Muslim or Atheist etc., this world might just be impossible anyways, I believe in a world where arguments for and against these ideas are freely, constructively and intelligently presented and heard with no consequence, and where one can freely chose to associate or not associate with any of them with no consequence, sadly this world too might also never exist.

And so because, ideas that use fear as a tool to remain relevant will eventually become obsolete when times and events allow freedom of choice without adverse consequence, love and freedom are far better tools.

What to do about Change

When a change that should be temporary take a form suggesting permanence, one might feel uncomfortable, and when a change that should be permanent takes a temporary form, one likewise becomes uncomfortable.

The multiplicity of thoughts and action with people on what should and shouldn’t be permanent might be a reason for this, another might be a lack of thought and action entirely.

So as noted earlier, because every human has a fairly different interpretation of what order is supposed to look like, our journey towards “true” “universally acceptable” order will be and has been chaotic.

But I believe we are figuring it out or not; I do not have enough information yet to make a full determination of this.

The fun here is that in this we are offered an opportunity to experiment with different scenarios and weigh the outcome, with the hope that we copy and replicate models that are successful, that promote freedom and survivability and growth.

Conclusion

Humans possess mechanisms for cooperation or discrimination as a biological and social function for survival, but as society progresses and develops, discrimination will become and is becoming less expedient and acceptable, discrimination of all kinds is on the decline and will eventually fizzle out.

The exchange of ideas and thoughts are not unlike monetary transactions, as we are all buying and selling ideas, given everything is an idea at different stages of development, this market place should stay free and open.
